PHILADELPHIA — Summer arrives officially on Sunday and a transportation agency is offering tips for safe driving throughout these next few warm months.
TMA Bucks, the Bensalem-based transportation agency for Bucks County, is sharing summer driving tips for safety as residents in the Philadelphia region take road trips.
From scenic drives to weekend getaways at county and state parks, America 250 events, festivals, and other tourist destinations, summer will likely bring increased traffic to local roadways, officials said.
TMA Bucks' Community Traffic Safety Program reminds drivers that preparation, patience, and responsible driving can help prevent crashes and keep everyone safe.
“Summer is one of the busiest travel times of the year, especially as visitors travel throughout our region for America 250 celebrations and major special events in Philadelphia,” TMA Bucks Executive Director Stephen J. Noll said. “Whether families are exploring Bucks County attractions, heading into the city for special events, or taking longer road trips, simple safety steps behind the wheel can make a major difference in keeping everyone safe. When possible, we also encourage travelers to consider using SEPTA public transportation options and the Share-A-Ride app to help reduce congestion and make travel easier during busy events.” The TMA Bucks Community Traffic Safety Program recommends the following summer driving safety tips:
