Police said that a store clerk reported that a male juvenile entered and asked for free merchandise. After the clerk refused, the 14-year-old showed what appeared to be a handgun and stated, "Do you want this?" police said.

Believing the weapon was real, the clerk backed away to avoid further confrontation. The juvenile then took a piece of candy and fled.

Police did not state what type of candy was stolen.

Police said the clerk provided a description of the suspect, who was then located on the township's camera system as he entered the Wellington Estates neighborhood.

Police took the teen into custody at the intersection of Cheltenham Drive and William Penn Drive.

The 14-year-old Bensalem resident from Bristol Pike was carrying an airsoft pistol, which had been used during the robbery.

He was charged with robbery and sent to the Bucks County Youth Detention Center.
