BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — The Bensalem Township Police Department has received a report of a resident getting several fraudulent phone calls from individuals claiming to be local elected officials and then police officers.
The scammer used what appeared to be AI generated photographs to deceive the victim, making the scam more believable, police said.
Police said that Bucks County elected officials and the Bensalem Police Department will never call and request payment through gift cards, Apple Pay, or similar methods, nor will we promise to reimburse anyone for money owed after your payment is made.
Bensalem Police said that anyone who receives one of these calls should hang up immediately.
Police said residents should not provide personal or financial information or send any money. Anyone suspicious calls should be reported to Bensalem Police at 215-633-3719.
