Seiber was married and had two children, a 7-year-old son and a 3-year-old daughter. His wife and other family members were able to be at his bedside before he died, Bethel said.

"What took place in the City of Philadelphia this past weekend was absolutely devastating. Sending my deepest condolences to the Seiber family for their immeasurable loss. My thoughts and prayers are with them and the other officer involved. May he continue to fight to overcome his injuries," State Rep. Kathleen "KC" Tomlinson.

A second officer, 33, was shot 12 times during the same incident and remains hospitalized in stable condition, according to Action News. The officer, a nine-year veteran of the department, has five children.

The Bensalem Township Police Department extended its condolences to the members of the Philadelphia Police Department.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Seiber family, the other involved officer who is currently hospitalized, the Philadelphia Police Department, and the entire city of Philadelphia during this difficult time," Bensalem Police said.

"Our hearts are broken for Officer Shane Seiber's family, his fellow officers, and everyone who knew and loved him. Shane was not only a dedicated Philadelphia police officer who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others, but also a member of our Bensalem community," Bensalem Township Council President Ed Tokmajian said. "We are keeping his wife, his children, and his fellow officer who was injured in our thoughts and prayers, and we will do everything we can as a community to support his family during this unimaginable loss."
