BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — The township is getting a $4 million grant for a new modern fire station.
The funding secured by U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick will help advance construction of a new Department of Public Safety Fire Station that will modernize emergency response and strengthening public safety across the township.
The new fire station will replace two nearly 50-year-old volunteer fire stations with a modern, centrally located facility uniting career and volunteer firefighters under one roof.
The new facility will strengthen our emergency response capabilities, improve coordination between our career and volunteer firefighters, and provide our first responders with the resources and facilities they need to protect our community," Fire Chief Mark Antozzeski said.
The new fire station is designed to improve response times, expand emergency coverage, and integrate fire, rescue, EMS, and command operations.
The new station will give Bensalem's first responders the infrastructure and operational capabilities they need to protect its residents and meet future public safety challenges, said William McVey, the township's Director of Public Safety.
Fitzpatrick, who co-chairs the Congressional Fire Services Caucus, said Bensalem Township is one of the best fire departments in the state.
The congressman worked with Bensalem Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo, McVey, Antozzeski, township leaders, and the firefighters to get the centralized facility.
"Through years of working alongside Bensalem's firefighters and public safety leaders, I've witnessed their extraordinary dedication, skill, and selfless service as they've adapted to the evolving needs of our community," Fitzpatrick said.
