BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — The Philadelphia police officer and township resident who was killed in the line of duty last weekend was laid to rest on Tuesday.
Shane Seiber, 40, of Bensalem, a 10-year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department, died at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center last Saturday morning.
On Tuesday morning, a horse-drawn funeral carriage brought his casket down Broad Street in Philadelphia, followed by a walking procession of hundreds of law enforcement and other dignitaries.
The funeral service wrapped up two days of official mourning for Seiber, who was killed in the line of duty on Oct. 10 after a report of an armed man in a West Philadelphia home.
Seiber was married and had two children, a 7-year-old son and a 3-year-old daughter.
For the past week, the Bensalem community has mourned his loss, with State Rep. Kathleen "K.C." Tomlinson, Bensalem Township Council President Ed Tokmajian, and the Bensalem Township Police Department have offered condolences.
