BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — Longtime customers came out to the Neshaminy Mall one last time this past weekend as the shopping mall gets set to close.
They took one last walk as the mall is expected to close at the end of the week after operating for 58 years.
The community gathering was an organized event that took place from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday as residents walked through the mall one last time before it closes down and gets demolished.
Some shoppers and walkers posted pictures of the empty stores and shared their memories on Facebook.
One person posted that he saw his first movie at the mall's theater. A woman stated that she had her first date with her husband going Christmas shopping at Sears in 1972.
Others wondered what will become of the empty stores and what the plans are for the property's future.
While the mall will be demolished, the AMC-24 Movie Theater, Boscov's and Barnes and Noble, will remain.
The Bucks County Redevelopment Authority is helping in the makeover of the 108.5 acre-site property located on Route 1 near the PA Turnpike.
The mall was sold in September 2024 to Paramount Realty.
The one-time shopping mecca lost a chuck of customers when anchor stores closed with Macy's in 2017 and Sears in 2018.
The Neshaminy Mall was also the site for circuses, ice rinks, and carnivals over the years.
