BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — The Bensalem Township Police Department has reached a significant milestone.
On Sunday, the police department celebrated its 75th anniversary.
On Nov. 1, 1951, the Bensalem Township Police Department was established when Police Chief George Rentz and Officer Engelbert Smith took their oaths of office.
Since that day, 322 men and women have sworn an oath to protect and serve Bensalem Township.
"For 75 years, the Bensalem Township Police Department has remained dedicated to protecting our community, upholding the law, preserving public safety, and building trust with the residents we are privileged to serve," officials said. "This anniversary represents decades of sacrifice, professionalism, courage, and dedication to our mission." Our township and department have experienced significant changes over the years, but one constant has remained: the unwavering commitment to service demonstrated by those who proudly wear the Bensalem Township Police badge."
To commemorate the 75th anniversary, all sworn personnel are being issued commemorative badges.
"Wearing these badges is a meaningful way to honor our department's proud history, recognize those who served before us, and celebrate the dedication of our current officers while inspiring those who will follow in our footsteps," officials said.
