Bensalem 8th Graders To Show Off New Dancing Skills

Cecelia Snyder Middle students got 10 weeks of dancing lessons and will perform Dec. 8 and Dec. 9

Eighth grade Bensalem students who have been dancing away for weeks now are putting their lessons to work by holding a culminating event.

On Thursday, Dec. 8 and Friday Dec. 9 at 1:30 p.m., A Dancing Classrooms Philly Culminating Event will take place in the gymnasium at Cecelia Snyder Middle where the dancing kids will show off their new skills.

For 10 weeks, Dancing Classrooms was at the school where eighth grade students had the opportunity to work with specially trained teaching artists in their classroom twice a week.

Over the course of the 10 weeks, the students became well versed in the Foxtrot, Merengue, Tango, Salsa, Swing, Waltz, and Rumba, the Bensalem Township School District said in a press release.

"The mission of Dancing Classrooms Philly is to build social awareness, confidence and self-esteem in students through the practice of social dance," the release said. "Lessons in civility, respect, focus and discipline are inherent in the residency and the program has been described as life lessons wrapped around ballroom dance."
