Bensalem Educator Named Bucks Co. Teacher Of The Year

A Bensalem educator has been named Bucks County's Teacher of the Year!

A Bensalem educator has been named Bucks County's Teacher of the Year. The contest is held each year by Inspire Federal Credit Union.

Kathryn Liese, who teaches 7th and 8th-grade pre-engineering and STEM at Cecelia Snyder Middle School, was announced as the contest winner during an event Saturday in Bristol. Liese was chosen from three finalists who were selected from a group of more than 200 nominees.

She will receive the $2,500 prize. Additionally, $500 will be donated to her school. The two runners up included Kathleen Fitzpatrick of Conwell-Egan Catholic High School and Staci Northrup of Makefield Elementary School.

The runners-up will each receive $1,000 and $500 donated to their school.

According to her bio, Liese is a 15-year teaching veteran in the Bensalem Township School District. She has taught at Cecelia Snyder Middle School for the last seven years of her career.

She currently serves as the Athletics and Activity Director, Yearbook Advisor, Cheerleading coach, Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science mentor, and Safety Coordinator. She has also created the SeaPerch Club at Bensalem High School for teens interested in the STEM program.

Liese graduated from Council Rock in 1998, according to The Intelligencer. She earned a bachelor's degree from Penn State University and a master's from Holy Family University.
