Bensalem Mayor, Police Honored For Law Enforcement Service

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —Bensalem Township Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo and the police department have been honored for their law enforcement service.

The police department said that the mayor and members of the Special Investigations Unit received awards Tuesday at the 42nd Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, hosted by the Citizens Crime Commission.

DiGirolamo received his award for his leadership and dedicated service over his career. The award was specifically given to him for his "unwavering support of law enforcement, commitment to his community, and prioritizing public safety," the police department said.

The members of the Special Investigations Unit —along with members of the FBI, USPS, and the Bucks County District Attorney's Office —received their award based on a large-scale narcotics investigation that resulted in the seizure of more than 50 pounds of methamphetamine, two pounds of crack cocaine, two 9mm handguns, and multiple arrests.
