Bensalem Raid Leads To Drug Charges Against Doc: Reports
FBI agents raided the Bensalem pain doctor's home at about 6 a.m. on Wednesday.
BENSALEM, PA — After an early-morning raid at his home Wednesday by FBI agents, a Bensalem pain doctor has been accused of defrauding medical insurance companies.
3CBS Philly reports that the raid happened at about 6 a.m. Wednesday at the home of Dr. Neil Anand. According to Eyewitness News, several FBI agents were seen inside the home on Cheltenham Drive and some were seen carrying boxes and a computer out of the home.
According to 6ABC, Anand was later charged by federal prosecutors with a scheme to defraud healthcare companies. Citing court documents, the station reported that Anand is accused, along with other doctors, of providing patients with bags of medication called "goody bags."

The bags, which contained numerous different prescription medications, were given to patients based on what a particular patient's insurance covered, not the patient's actual medical needs, the station quoted the charges as claiming.
According to the charges, the scam took place between Nov. 2015 and July 2019.

Reached by Patch, a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's office in Philadelphia said the office had no public comment on the charges Wednesday afternoon.
