BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —The township has been chosen as one of the 50 best places to live in the country for families this year.
Fortune Magazine ranked Bensalem Township No. 26 on its list of the "50 Best Places to Live for Families."
The magazine called Bensalem "a great place to call home that feels close to everything —but also a world away."
"I'm very, very proud of it," Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo told Patch about the ranking. "We work hard at this. It's great to see that we are recognized with the problems that we have. This is big. Not only are we one of 50, we're ranked No. 26. That is phenomenal."
Bensalem was the only town in Bucks County to make the magazine's list and the only one in Pennsylvania.
The magazine said this year’s list highlights the best place to live in each of the 50 states.
In its analysis of nearly 1,900 cities across the country, the best places to live scored high on assets like health care, education, and resources for seniors, the magazine stated.
The magazine's article mentions Bensalem's own Penn Community Bank Amphitheater as a standout family attraction.
"In Bucks County near the Delaware River lies the quaint town of Bensalem, Pa. This suburban area is uniquely located near the Pennsylvania–New Jersey state border, which runs directly through the winding Delaware River by Bensalem, making it a great place to call home that feels close to everything—but also a world away," the magazine said about the township of 62,905 people.
"Wage your bets at Parx Casino, a gambling and horse racing facility that provides both entertainment and employment to the city’s residents. The Penn Community Bank Amphitheater is another great venue, which hosts concerts and other performances with a huge outdoor space to pull up your lawn chair or picnic blanket and listen to music," the magazine said.
Also, access to quality health care is abundant, as Bensalem’s Rothman Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital has won several awards for patient safety and experience, and holds America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement Awards for 2023, 2022, and 2021, according to Healthgrades.com.

"We don't raise taxes and we have the best police and firefighters and EMS," DiGirolamo said. "All of this is done to protect the safety and the welfare of our people."
