Bensalem School Incident Under Investigation

Interim Schools Superintendent Victoria Velazquez addressed the Cornwells Elementary School community about a recent incident.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — The Bensalem Township Police Department is investigating a recent incident at the Cornwells Elementary School, officials said.

Interim Schools Superintendent Victoria Velazquez sent an email to Cornwells Elementary School families to inform them about a recently reported incident within the school community.

"The matter is being taken very seriously and is being reviewed in accordance with district policies and procedures, and is being investigated by the Bensalem Township Police Department," Velazquez said.

The superintendent said school officials were unable to share specific details, but wanted to reassure families that the appropriate protocols are being followed during the investigation.

"When responding to situations that occur, we are working closely with a variety of supports to ensure a thorough and thoughtful response," the superintendent said. "These supports can include, but are not limited to: principals, school counselors, social workers, Care Solace services, School Resource Officers, and district office support if needed. Our priority remains the safety, well-being, and support of all students."
