Bensalem Teachers Approve New Contract: Report

Details of the new contract for Bensalem Township School District educators have not been released publicly.

BENSALEM, PA — After nearly two years without one, teachers in Bensalem have voted overwhelmingly to ratify a new contract.

The Intelligencer reports that the 442-member Bensalem Township Education Assocation approved the new deal Tuesday night. There had been heated back-and-forth between educators and the district's school board since the old contract expired on June 30, 2017.

Charles Morantz, president of the teacher's union, told The Intelligencer that the vote was 268-99 in favor of ratifying the new contract, with 75 members not voting.

Details of the new contract have not been released publicly.

Bensalem's school board is scheduled to vote on the new contract at its April 24 meeting. Superintendent Samuel Lee told the paper he and school board members would discuss whether to share details of the contract publicly prior to the vote.
