Bensalem Teenager Charged With Rape Of Minor

Zamire J. Cottrell, 18, of Bensalem Township, faces rape charges in Philadelphia, according to court documents.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —A Bensalem teenager has been charged with rape and other offenses in Philadelphia.

Zamire J. Cottrell, 18, of Bensalem Township was arraigned on charges of rape, unlawful contact with a minor, unlawful restraint, sexual assault, false imprisonment, the corruption of minors, indecent assault, indecent exposure, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, according to court documents from the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania.

Cottrell posted $150,00 bail. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on April 19.

The Daily Collegian, Penn State University's student paper, said that Cottrell is a preferred walk-on for the Penn State University football team.

He played as a defensive lineman on the Conwell-Egan Catholic High School football team for the Bristol Township school.

The student newspaper said that he also had offers from Temple University and St. Francis University.

The Bucks County Courier Times reported that the alleged rape happened on March 5 at a party in Northeast Philadelphia and that Cottrell allegedly sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl.
