Chemical Contained During Bensalem Hazmat Incident

A section of Byberry Road was closed Sunday as crews worked to contain an issue with a truck, authorities said.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —A main township road was closed for some time Sunday to due a hazmat incident related to an issue with a truck, authorities said.

The Nottingham Fire Department said it was on the scene Sunday morning for a report of a Bucks County Water Sewer truck that had some type of chemical reaction in the back of the truck.

Byberry Road was closed between Hulmeville and Knights roads as crews worked to resolve the hazmat situation.

The Bensalem Police Department, Bensalem EMS, and the Bucks County Special Operations hazmat team were on the scene.

Authorities said there was an unknown substance smoking in the truck.

The substance was contained by crews and the road was later reopened, authorities said.

The Bucks County Special Operations Hazmat unit responded with its technicians successfully containing, the chemical, rendering the scene safe.
