Cornwells Elementary School Celebrating 25th Anniversary

The Bensalem Township school will host a community open house on April 1 that includes the opening of a time capsule.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —Cornwells Elementary School is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

In celebration, the school will host a community open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 1 at 2215 Hulmeville Rd.

The event will include activities such as spring fling games, building tours, faculty and staff meet and greets, crafts, merchandise, and the opening of a time capsule.

In other school district news:

Six Bensalem High School choral students traveled to West Chester University to participate in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) Region VI Chorus. They had to re-audition and place in the Top 6 of their section to advance to PMEA All-State.

School officials said this was a record-breaking year with five students going to All-State in April to perform with the best singers from around the state.

The students are:

  • Saige Zebrowski - Soloist with the Region VI choir
  • AJ Ferriola - Advancing to States, placed second in his section; has qualified for All-State for three straight years.
  • Emiliano Quinones - Advancing to States, placed fourth in his section; the first BHS tenor since 2001 to make it to States.
  • Ethan Hinshaw - Advancing to States; the first high school bass since 2001 to make it to States.
  • Sara Skillens - Advancing to States
  • Margaret MacAdams - Advancing to States

Meanwhile, Bensalem High School students Kasta Marigna and Dennis Shalimov represented the school at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 11 Orchestra Festival.

The two students were selected from among the best student musicians across Bucks and Montgomery counties through a rigorous audition process in which students were judged on technical ability, tone quality, intonation, and overall musicianship.

PMEA is a statewide nonprofit organization of more than 4,000 members dedicated to promoting and supporting quality music education, learning, and performance.
