County To Spray For West Nile Mosquitoes Monday In Bensalem

Areas to be sprayed include Ogden Ave, Bowman Ave, Finley Ave, Cornwells Ave, School Ln, E Bensalem Ave, Woodbine Ave, and more.

Bucks County will spray for mosquitoes Monday in Bensalem and Middletown townships.

The Bucks County West Nile Virus Prevention Program will conduct the ultra-low volume mosquito control operation to reduce high populations of mosquitoes capable of transmitting West Nile Virus.

The treatments will be administered via truck-mounted equipment, spraying mosquito habitats in residential and park locations, according to the county.

Trucks used in the spray are identified with Bucks County seal logos located on the doors. "The equipment dispenses Duet Dual-Action Adulticide at a rate of 0.75 ounces per acre. The product is designed to provide quick, effective control of adult mosquito populations. The application material has a very low toxicity profile to mammals and will have negligible impact to non-target insects and the environment," an announcement from the county said.

The areas to receive the treatment in Middletown Township is the area bounded by and including Forsythia Drive, and Forsythia Crossing, and Snowball Drive from Trenton Road down to Forsythia Crossing.

The areas to receive treatment in Bensalem Township will be Ogden Ave, Bowman Ave, Finley Ave, Cornwells Ave, Clovernook Ave, School Ln, E Bensalem Ave, Woodbine Ave, Lavender Rd, Beverly Ave, Virginia Ave, and the Bensalem Country Club.

Weather conditions could delay the spray operation. If conditions do not allow application on July 23, the spray will be done the following evening.
