Recycle Ghana Exhibit

The children made paper from sugar cane leaves, then made jewelry, art, wall hangings, blank journals and other items from the hand-made paper through a program called Cross Cultural Collaborative.

Cross Cultural Collaborative is an educational non-profit in Nungua, Ghana that was founded in 2002 by artist and education Ellie Schimelman, of Doylestown, Pa.

Through the Cross Cultural Collaborative children come to an art center and residential home called ABA House and are encouraged to use their creativity to make unique pieces.

Artwork created by the children of the Cross Cultural Collaborative will be available for purchase at nominal cost during the reception. All proceeds from sales are used to pay school related costs. Schimelman, director of the Cross Cultural Collaborative, will discuss the pieces on display, talk about the children from Nungua and show photographs.
