UPDATE, 3:17 p.m.: Bensalem Township School District Superintendent Dr. Samuel Lee released a statement on the fight at a basketball game when Bensalem and Harry S. Truman high schools faced off Thursday night:

This unfortunate incident remains under investigation. The safety and security of its student athletes is the primary concern of The Bensalem Township School District. We continue to collaborate with The Bristol
Township School District in the interest of accuracy, fairness and collective safety moving forward.

We are disappointed that a few compromised that safety and marred what was otherwise a very good basketball game. At the conclusion of the investigation I am confident that the responsible parties and associated actions will be addressed appropriately.

Harry S. Truman High School Principal Lyndell Davis also released a statement Friday on the incident:

Last night, our boys basketball team played a great 4 quarters of basketball. Throughout the game they displayed great sportsmanship and competitiveness. They were able to edge a talented Bensalem team by 1 point on a last second shot.
Unfortunately that was all marred by the actions of a few, if not all that were not Truman students. There were many friends and family members on the floor at the end of the game celebrating an exciting win, as in most close games.During the end of game handshakes, punches were thrown from many directions. I am pleased to say that those punches were not coming from members of our basketball team. Our team was able to clear the floor at the direction of coaches and staff. The reports from the paper insinuate that it was Truman students that started and participated in this fight. As previously stated, most involved were not students of Truman.
There were 2 BTPD officers on duty at the game, as is standard protocol. More officers were needed to help calm the situation. This was a very dangerous incident, and we will look at ways to prevent this from happening again. One method we will seriously examine is changing the times of our games, in hopes of eliminating some of that unwanted element from our facility.

Bristol Township Police confirmed an incident at the school but did not provide further information as a release has not been drafted, police said.
