Fake Police Officer Phone Call Scam Prompts Bensalem Township Alert

Bensalem Township Police said someone is posing as a police officer and asking for money from residents when jury duty is missed.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —The Bensalem Township Police Department said that it has been receiving reports that someone is calling township residents stating they are a Bensalem Township Police Officer.

Police said Friday that the nature of the calls is that the "officer" is requesting restitution, in the form of money, for the resident failing to attend jury duty or respond to the jury duty summons.

Bensalem Police stated that the department does not collect any money for jury duty nor does it collect money over the phone for any other reason.

Anyone who receives this type of call should understand that it is fraudulent, police said.
