Firstrust Bank Calls for Submissions for Annual College Scholarship Program

47th Annual Samuel A. Green Scholarship Program Grants $50,000 in Funds to Community-Minded High School Seniors

Firstrust Bank is now accepting submissions for its 47th annual Samuel A. Green Scholarship Program. College-bound high school seniors are invited to compete for academic scholarships totaling $50,000.

“We are excited to celebrate the 47th year of this scholarship program and are proud to support regional high school students as they continue their education,” said Richard J. Green, Chairman and CEO of Firstrust. “The Samuel A. Green Scholarship Program engages students who are fully committed to using their education to better their community, and it is an honor to assist those who want to use their education to make a positive impact in the world around them.”

Graduating high school seniors from public and private schools within Firstrust’s market area who plan to attend a four-year accredited college or university are eligible for the competition. They are asked to submit a 250-word essay on “How my college education will help me cultivate prosperity in my neighborhood/community.”

The scholarships will be awarded in four prize levels:

  • 1st prize – $10,000
  • 2nd prize – $5,000
  • 3rd prize – $5,000
  • 4th prize – $1,000 (30 scholarships will be awarded)

Students must submit an essay of 250 words or less, typewritten in a 12-point font with 1-inch margins, on the theme “How my college education will help me cultivate prosperity in my neighborhood/community.” Essays must be accompanied by a completed application.

Only one essay will be judged per student. Essay and completed application must be postmarked or delivered on or before February 29, 2016.

Winners will be notified on or about April 15, 2016.
