Gritty, Flyers Legend Bernie Parent Appear In Bensalem
Bensalem Township held its National Night Out Tuesday, three weeks after it was canceled due to inclement weather.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —The Philadelphia Flyers organization helped make National Night Out Tuesday even more special for residents.
The Bensalem Township police and fire departments along with the Bensalem Township Fire Rescue were joined by Flyers mascot Gritty and two-time Stanley Cup champion and Hall of Fame goaltender Bernie Parent.
The annual event took place on Tuesday, three weeks after it was canceled due to inclement weather.

Gritty stopped by to check out Engine 222, the township's new fire engine.
"It was a great turnout for our community and kids to come together with our police officers and firefighters," police said.

The police department displayed its "Behind Closed Doors" educational trailer, police vehicles, and equipment, including drones and a K9 demonstration show.
"A special thank you to the Philadelphia Flyers organization and the Flyers mascot Gritty for also participating in this event," police said. "We also would like to thank the FBI, Philly PD Aviation Unit, and other partners who joined us to celebrate with the community as well. Events like this always help build the relationship and trust between the police and the people we serve."
