Habitat Bucks to Hold Informational Sessions For Potential Homebuyers

Habitat Bucks is holding for meetings for potential homebuyers to explain the process, requirements and guidelines for homeownership.

Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County will hold informational sessions for potential homebuyers who want to learn more about the home buying process, program requirements, and income guidelines for purchasing an affordable Habitat home in Bucks County.

The homebuyer interest meetings will be held on Thursday, June 22 from 6 – 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 24 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at St. James the Greater Episcopal Church Hall, Walnut & Wood Streets in Bristol, PA. Interested homebuyers can register to attend an informational session by contacting Stefanie Clark at 215-822-2812,x307 or s.clark@habitatbucks.org prior to June 20.

Habitat Bucks will be offering several single family homes in Morrisville Borough and Bristol Township. Qualified households help build their own homes then purchase them with affordable mortgages.

To qualify, individuals and families must:

· Currently live or work in Bucks County

· Be willing to partner with Habitat Bucks in completing sweat equity hours (includes helping to build the home) and participating in media coverage

· Have a stable income and satisfactory credit history

· Demonstrate a need for an affordable home (includes the inability to purchase a home in the county due to rising home prices; overcrowding; unsafe living conditions; etc.)

· Meet the current income guidelines

The Habitat Bucks Homeownership Program provides an opportunity for low-income families to build strength, stability and self-reliance by partnering with Habitat. Habitat homebuyers contribute a minimum of 200 hours of sweat equity during the construction of their homes.

Since 1990, Habitat Bucks has built 104 affordable homes in Bucks County. Through their home repair program, A Brush with Kindness, Habitat Bucks also makes repairs to the exterior of homes, including porch repair and installation of handicapped accessible ramps, and modifications to interiors of homes to help aging and disabled individuals remain safe in their own homes. Revenue from Habitat ReStores provides a source of sustainable funding for the construction and repair of homes.
