Home Destroyed, Fire Deemed Accidental In Bensalem Township

Bensalem Fire Police said a fire Sunday destroyed a mobile home and sent two people to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —Bensalem Township fire crews handled two fires Sunday in which one destroyed a mobile home and sent two people to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

Bensalem Township fire crews responded to a report at 12:17 p.m. Sunday at 6100 Clearview Ave. for a structure fire with possible entrapment.

The Newport Fire Department arrived and reported heavy fire showing from a mobile home. Fire officials said it took about 20 minutes to place the fire under control.

Two occupants were transported by Bensalem EMS to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital for smoke inhalation.

The home was destroyed and is uninhabitable. The Red Cross is assisting the occupants.

Battalion Chief R. Sponheimer determined that the fire was accidental in nature.

Upon leaving the scene, crews were dispatched to the Top of the Ridge Trailer Park on Gibson Road for a report of the rear of a mobile home on fire.

Crews arrived and extinguished a fire in a shed in the rear of the home.

One occupant was treated by Bensalem EMS and transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital.

Sponheimer determined the fire started due to an improperly discarded cigarette. He declared the fire accidental in nature.
