Longtime Bensalem Twp. Police Officer Retires

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — The Bensalem Township Police Department has said goodbye to a longtime member.

Detective Sgt. Glenn Vandegrift was recently honored by township officials for his 28 years of service with the police department.

Throughout his career, Vandegrift served as a SWAT team member for over 10 years, as well as a firearms instructor.

Township officials said that Vandegrift also became the department’s expert in crime scene processing, fingerprint analysis, blood spatter, and DNA processing.

In addition to his investigative expertise, Vandegrift played a key role in advancing the department’s technology initiatives, including drone operations, using drones as first responders, bus patrol, and the real-time crime center.

"We thank Sergeant Vandegrift for his years of exceptional service and wish him the best in retirement," township officials said,
