Armed Man Charged After 8-Hour Barricade Situation In Bensalem

The incident was reported Monday morning at The Mall Motel, located between Rockhill Drive and Bristol Road.

A 51-year-old Levittown man will be charged after barricading himself for more than eight hours Monday in a Bensalem motel. The situation caused a portion of Old Lincoln Highway to close as police and SWAT personnel responded.

According to Bensalem police, Russell Treloar barricaded himself in the Mall Motel on Old Lincoln Highway from 7:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Treloar was armed with a handgun and refused to comply with multiple police requests to surrender, authorities said.

Treloar fired "multiple" gun shots inside the room and was eventually placed in custody by SWAT personnel.

Treloar is currently being treated for non-life-threatening injuries he sustained during the ordeal and will be charged with reckless endangerment, terroristic threats and related offenses, police said.

Treloar will be arraigned Monday evening, police said.
