Man Charged With Attempted Rape Of Girl In Bensalem

Bensalem Police said the Pottstown man struck up a conversation with an alleged 12-year-old girl on a dating app.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —A Pottstown man has been charged with the attempted rape of a child under 13 after a conversation he had with the alleged victim on a dating app, police said.

Bensalem Township Police said that Uturah Golson, 32, of Pottstown, PA, began a conversation on a dating app with an alleged 12-year-old female in March.

The conversation was sexual in nature with Golson asking if the juvenile liked older men, and whether she had sex. He also asked if she would send him nude photos, police said.

Police said the messaging continued for more than three months during which Golson asked the juvenile to meet with him to have sexual intercourse and specifically described the sexual acts that he wanted to perform on her.

On July 8, Golson took public transportation from his home in Pottstown to Bensalem to meet with the juvenile to have a sexual encounter.

That meeting never took place but Golson was identified as being in the area while he was messaging the juvenile stating that he was at her residence, police said.

After the canceled meeting, Golson continued to message the 12-year-old.

At one point, the juvenile stated that she was at her friend's house. Golson asked about her friend's age and when she said 11 years old, Golson asked to meet to have sex with both of them.

Bensalem Police obtained an arrest warrant for Golson, charging him with criminal attempted rape of a child under the age of 13, and related offenses.

Police then contacted Pottstown Police Department and advised them of the active warrant.

At 11 a.m. Thursday, Pottstown Police arrested Golson at his home.

He was transported to the Bensalem Township Police Department where he was arraigned by District Justice Joseph Falcone and remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $10 million bail.

He has been charged with criminal attempt rape of a child under the age of 13, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, sexual abuse of children, corruption of minors, criminal use of a communication facility, and indecent assault.
