Man Nabbed For Soliciting Sex With Bensalem Girl: Police

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —A Philadelphia man faces numerous charges after he thought he was meeting a 13-year-old girl for sex Friday, but found Bensalem Township Police waiting at the motel instead.

John Delgado was charged with involuntary deviant sexual intercourse with a person less than age 16, unlawful contact with a minor, and related charges, the Bensalem Township Police Department said.

Other charges include photograph or filming of a sex act, unlawful communication with a minor, corruption of a minor, criminal use of a communication facility, indecent assault with a person under 16 years of age.

Delgado was arraigned Friday by District Justice Michael Gallagher and remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $750,000 bail.

On March 21, Delgado began a conversation with an alleged 13-year-old girl on a social media dating app, police said.

During the conversations, Delgado stated his intentions to meet up with the juvenile to perform sexual acts on her.

The conversations continued and he agreed to meet up with the girl on April 10. He drove to a local hotel but the meeting never happened, police said.

Delgado continued the sexual conversations with the girl, asking her to meet in person.

On Friday, Delgado once again agreed to meet the girl after her mother left for work. He drove from his home in Philadelphia to a motel on Bristol Pike in Bensalem. When he arrived at that location, police were waiting for him and took him into custody.

William McVey, the department's director of public safety, told Patch Friday that police were working on the case and intercepted Delgado before contact could be made with the girl.
