Mayor Moves Maple On Earth Day In Bensalem

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo's family has a farming history.

So there was the longtime mayor on Earth Day Monday morning moving a beautiful Japanese Maple.

He was helping the Parks and Recreation Department relocate the tree onto township property.

"You can take the man from farming, but you can't take farming out of the man," the township said in a Facebook post.

In other township news:

• The playground in the Coves will be closed for replacement beginning Tuesday until the completion of the new playground installation.

• The Ramblers Sports Organization has provided Bensalem youth baseball, football and cheerleading training for more than five decades. The Mayor, Township Council and most importantly, the kids and parents, enjoyed opening ceremonies at the Officer Robert Yezzi Memorial Field earlier this month.
