TREVOSE, Pa. — According to the National Institute of Mental Health, it is estimated that “one in five U.S. adults live with a mental illness” (57.8 million people in 2021). Moreover, “nine out of 10 adults said they believed there is a mental health crisis” in the United States, according to a CNN survey taken last year.

In response to such staggering numbers, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) in Bucks County is holding a comprehensive workshop next weekend to combat the stigma and elevate awareness in the community in conjunction with National Mental Health Awareness Month.

Hosted by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® Omega Zeta Omega Chapter (AKAOZO.org) and Linconia Community Center, the event, titled “Ending the Silence & Putting the ‘Me’ in Mental Health,” will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, at Linconia Tabernacle Christian Center, located at 2460 Paris Ave. in Trevose, Pa.
