National Night Out Tuesday In Bensalem Township

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —After being canceled due to inclement weather three weeks ago, National Night Out is back on track in Bensalem.

With its 40th anniversary this year, National Night Out will once again allow residents to get to know their police officers with fun, community-oriented festivities.

Bensalem Township will hold its National Night Out from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the township pavilion on 2400 Byberry Rd.

National Night Out is designed to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while spotlighting the community. It also provides an opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Festivities include a “Behind Closed Doors” educational trailer, a demonstration by the Bensalem Police K9 Unit, and vehicle displays of the police crime scene truck, command post, motorcycles, patrol cars, SWAT unit, and the police drone.

A helicopter flyover by the Philadelphia Police Department is also planned.

Residents can also enjoy the Copsicle Ice-Cream Bus. Light refreshments will also be served.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live, according to the organization's website.

National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August.

Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts, and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, and exhibits, among other festivities.

Some towns hold their events on different days. Some states, like Texas, celebrate on the first Tuesday in October.
