Nursing Home Fire Contained Without Injuries In Bensalem: Fire Rescue

Bensalem and Nottingham fire crews responded to a fire at the Allegria at the Oaks Monday. Hulmeville Road was closed for a short time.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — A fire at the Allegria at the Oaks assisted living home early Monday morning was contained without injuries, fire officials said.

The Bensalem Fire Rescue responded to the Allegria at the Oaks on 6400 Hulmeville Road at 7:45 a.m. Monday for a fire alarm activation, arriving to find an active fire on the assisted living facility's lower level.

Hulmeville Road was closed between Bensalem Boulevard and the Hulmeville Borough line before the fire could be contained and controlled just after 8 a.m., fire officials said.

Fire crews stretched a waterline to the lower level where a fire was discovered in a bathroom with an extension to the ceiling and a smoke condition throughout the north wing.

Crews assisted with providing ventilation and searching the wing.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental in nature, fire officials said.

The Nottingham Fire Department's Ladder 65 also assisted.
