Oldest Shelter Pet In Women's Animal Center Adopted
Benjamin, a 9-year-old male retriever/greyhound mix, was the first featured in Patch's Lower Bucks Co. Shelter Pet of the Week.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —He was the first one chosen for Patch's new Lower Bucks Co. Shelter Pet of the Week feature.
Benjamin, a 9-year-old male retriever/greyhound mix, was the oldest shelter pet living in the Women's Animal Center.
For 2 1/2 years, Benjamin spent his time in America's first animal shelter waiting for his furever home. And then the Patch weekly series, which runs on Fridays, started a little more than a month ago.

Shelter officials said that Benjamin —a sweet, energetic senior with a playful personality and a favorite of our volunteers and staff —came into our shelter in April 2021.
"And after spending 2 ½ years in our care, grabbed his favorite ball and happily headed home with his new and excited family," shelter officials said. "It takes a village to care for a shelter pet. There are so many heroes in this wonderful story."
The shelter mentioned:
- The dedicated veterinary and shelter animal care team who provided daily and compassionate care for Benjamin.
- The volunteer animal handlers who provided enrichment, socialization, play, and constant love.
- Those who followed Benjamin's journey and kindly spread the word to raise awareness.
- People who kindly donated funds, enrichment toys, and treats to help provide for Benjamin’s long-term care, and the continued enrichment, medical, and compassionate care of all of the shelter pets.
- Doll 10 Beauty for generously sponsoring Benjamin's adoption fee.
The shelter thanked Benjamin’s new family for providing "this beautiful boy" with a loving forever home.
"We never give up on these precious lives and it's thanks to the incredible support of kind adopters and a generous community of donors and friends like you who help to make it possible for Women's Animal Center to provide safe shelter, nutritious meals, enrichment, and medical care for the shelter pets waiting for their forever homes," shelter officials said. "A new family was created and a truly happy day for another beautiful shelter pet and the people who will love him."
