Every year, the Philadelphia NFL players give out $6,000 in scholarships. The organizations raise about $5,000 on the bowling night.

In June, the Rotary Club held its first breakfast at Parx Racing for some children who received the scholarships.

The bowling fundraiser will also honor the late Philadelphia Eagle Greg Brown, who did so much for the Philadelphia area for nonprofits.

This year, former Eagle Brad Quast is receiving the award.

Cohen said Quast is instrumental in helping the club and NFL organizations with the scholarship programs.

At the event, the Phillie Phanatic and Philadelphia Phillies ball girls are also expected to attend.

The Bensalem High School Community Service Club and ROTC cadets with the ball girls will be selling 50-50 tickets and raffle baskets on Tuesday night. it’s a fun time for everyone. It’s a free event if you don’t bowl.

Meanwhile, in late January, the Bensalem Rotary Club honored the township's police officer, firefighter, and civilian of the year.

Congratulations to Lt. Mike Schum of the Bensalem Police Department, Lt. Nick Altomare of Bensalem Fire Rescue, and Tracey Buechner, the club's first recipient of the Civilian of the Year award.

Cohen said that each of the honorees showed "tremendous courage, dedication, and excellence in their respective roles."

"We are proud to recognize their contributions to our community and grateful for their continued service," he said.

The Bensalem Rotary Club has honored a policeman for several years, Cohen said.

Three years ago, after a suggestion by Councilwoman Michelle Benitez and Public Safety Director William McVey, a firefighter of the year was added. The police department wanted to honor a Civilian of the Year and that was included as well.
