Route 1 Bridge Construction Resumes This Week

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —Bridge construction starts overnight Monday and will last for most of the week as part of PennDOT's Route 1 Improvements Project.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said that overhead bridge construction is scheduled at night this week on Rockhill Drive in Bensalem Township for bridge demolition under a project to reconstruct, widen, and improve Route 1 in Bucks County.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

• Monday, April 8, through Thursday, April 11, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, a single-lane pattern with intermittent 15-minute stoppages will be in place on Rockhill Drive between Horizon Boulevard and Mall Boulevard.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area.

All scheduled activities are weather-dependent and subject to change.

PennDOT is reconstructing and widening U.S. 1, improving the interchanges, and constructing new bridges from the Turnpike Interchange in Bensalem Township to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 in Middletown Township under the $113.5 million Section RC2 contract.
