Route 1 Bridge Demolition Will Cause Motorist Delays
PennDOT said the construction is part of the Route 1 Improvements Project. Find out when the work will take place below.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —Motorists should expect delays as PennDOT performs bridge construction on Rockhill Drive at night this week as part of the Route 1 Improvements Project.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said that the bridge demolition falls under a project to reconstruct, widen, and improve Route 1.

- Monday, Dec. 4, through Thursday, Dec. 7, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, a single-lane pattern with intermittent 15-minute stoppages will be in place in both directions on Rockhill Drive between Old Lincoln Highway and Neshaminy Boulevard.
The lane closures will allow PennDOT’s contractor to safely demolish the southbound side of the existing bridge carrying U.S. 1 over Rockhill Drive. Motorists traveling in both directions on U.S. 1 are now using the new northbound bridge during southbound construction.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area. All scheduled activities are weather-dependent and subject to change.

PennDOT is reconstructing and widening U.S. 1, improving the interchanges, and constructing new bridges from the Turnpike Interchange in Bensalem Township to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 in Middletown Township under the $113.5 million Section RC2 contract.
