Route 1 Construction Continuing Into Early April
PennDOT said that nightly ramp and roadway construction around Rockhill Drive is part of the Route 1 improvements project in Bensalem.
LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —Nightly ramp and roadway construction will continue through at least April 3 along Route 1 and Rockhill Drive, PennDOT said.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said that the work is being done on Route 1 between Old Lincoln Highway and the Neshaminy Exit under projects to reconstruct, widen and improve a three-mile section of Route 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

- Monday, March 27, through Friday, March 31, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., the following morning, alternating double lane closures are scheduled in both directions on U.S. 1 between Old Lincoln Highway and the Neshaminy Exit in Bensalem Township for pavement surface grinding.
- Monday, March 27, through Thursday, March 30, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., the following morning, a single-lane pattern will be in place on Rockhill Drive between Horizon Boulevard and Neshaminy Boulevard for drainage construction.
- From 8 p.m. Friday, March 31, to 6 a.m. Monday, April 3, the ramp from southbound U.S. 1 to Rockhill Drive at the Neshaminy Exit will be closed for construction. Motorists will be detoured south on U.S. 1, west on Street Road (Route 132), then north on Old Lincoln Highway to Rockhill Drive. (The ramp to southbound U.S. 1 has been closed for reconstruction since fall 2022).
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near the work areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
PennDOT is reconstructing and widening Route 1, improving the interchanges, and constructing new bridges between Old Lincoln Highway in Bensalem Township and Penndel/Business Route 1 in Middletown Township under two contracts totaling more than $207 million.
