Route 1 Interchange Turn Lane Closing For 3 Months

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —The reconstruction of the Neshaminy/Rockhill Drive Interchange as part of the Route 1 Improvements Project will close a turn lane for three months, PennDOT said Wednesday.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said the turn lane to the ramp from westbound Rockhill Drive to northbound U.S. 1 will be closed for about three months beginning on Sept. 9 under a $116 million project to reconstruct, widen, and improve a three-mile section of Interstate 1 in Bucks County.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

• Monday, Sept. 9, to Sunday, Dec. 15, the left turn lane from westbound Rockhill Drive to the ramp to northbound U.S. 1 will close. Motorists will be directed to use southbound Old Lincoln Highway and eastbound Street Road (Route 132) to access northbound U.S. 1.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays may occur.

The work is part of PennDOT’s U.S. 1/RC2 contract that will reconstruct and widen U.S. 1 from south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange.

The project also will improve the U.S. 1 interchanges at Neshaminy, Penndel/Business U.S. 1, and Rockhill Drive.

Additionally, the bridges over Rockhill Drive, Neshaminy Creek, and Business U.S. 1/CSX/SEPTA will be replaced.
