REMINDER: Tyler Park In Newtown Closing Wednesday Dec. 7 For Annual Deer Hunt

All parts of the park are closed to the public for safety reasons.

If you're a frequenter of Tyler State Park, you might want to make other plans for Dec. 7 as the park will hold its annual one-day shotgun deer hunt.

The park will be closed to all activities, save for the hunt, to ensure the public's safety, according to the park.

The Dec. 7 hunt will allow hunters to bag antlered and antlerless deer, according to the park.

According to the park, the hunt is held to help reduce problems such as natural resource impacts of increased white-tailed deer populations in the park.

The 1,117-acre park has been hosting the annual hunt for nearly 30 years to help keep the park's ecosystem in tact, the Times reports.
