The sea scouts of Ship 2012 have been busy lately. Along with their adult leaders, they completed a service project Tullytown recently. The sea scouts deconstructed old docks at D&S Marina where they make their summer home.
But it hasn’t been all work and no play; the previous weekend was spent on a trip to Lewes Delaware where they joined another Sea Scout unit for an overnight trip.
“The best part about our trip was the bay and how clear everything was in the middle of the water” said Christian Smith. “The sleeping conditions could have been better but other than that it was a great trip.”

Sea scouting is a lesser known BSA coed youth program for ages 14 to 21 which focuses on boating skills and the promotion of knowledge about our maritime heritage. Ship 2012, Bucks County’s only Sea Scout unit, is chartered by the Pennsylvania Yacht Club in Bensalem which provides them a free mooring, meeting space and winter storage for their sailboat “North Star”. D&S Marina donates the slip in Tullytown from which they sail each week during the summer months. The boat is owned and insured by the Delaware Valley Youth Boating Association.
