Shopping Center Fire Under Investigation In Bensalem

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —A fire that ripped through a township shopping center and caused "significant damage" to a popular bar is under investigation, fire officials said.

Bensalem Township Fire Rescue and the Bensalem Township Police Department said that Bucks County 911 Center received a call at 3:58 a.m. Thursday that heavy black smoke was coming from the roof of the Andalusia Bar and Grill at 971 Bristol Pike.

Bensalem Police, Bensalem EMS, and members of the Bensalem Volunteer Fire Department responded to the location and found heavy smoke and fire engulfing the central portion of Grandview Plaza.

A second alarm was activated, and fire departments from Croydon, Penndel, and Feasterville assisted with controlling the blaze around 5 a.m.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the fire started in the Andalusia Bar and Grill and spread to the surrounding businesses, fire officials and police said.

The fire caused significant damage to the Andalusia Bar and Grill, including a partial roof collapse.

Authorities said that 8-10 other businesses in the complex received fire, smoke, and water damage.

No injuries to civilians or fire personnel were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Fire Investigators with Bensalem Township Fire Rescue were assisted by fire investigators from the Philadelphia Fire Marshal’s Office, Middletown Township, and Newtown Township.
