Stolen Crucifix From Closed Bensalem Shrine Returned

Bensalem Police have identified the two juveniles who broke into the former St. Katherine Drexel Shrine on May 11.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —Bensalem Police have identified the two juveniles who broke into the former St. Katherine Drexel Shrine and stole a crucifix.

Sgt. Glenn Vandegrift said Bensalem Police investigated the reported theft on May 11 and said the crucifix was recovered.

The Bensalem Township Police Department said that in the early afternoon of May 11, the two residents who live near the shrine entered the closed property.

About 45 minutes later, the two juveniles emerged from the building carrying a crucifix that was located in the Motherhouse.

They then left the area carrying the crucifix.

Vandegrift said that no criminal charges will be filed at this time.
