Street Road Reopens After 12-Hour Closure From Crash

Bensalem fire officials said a crash brought down wires and closed the busy road during rush hour on Monday night.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —A stretch of Street Road was reopened early Tuesday morning after a crash closed the busy Lower Bucks County road for 12 hours due to downed wires, fire officials said.

The Bensalem Township Fire Rescue Department said Street Road was closed between Knights Road and Mechanicsville Road in both directions at 6:30 p.m. Monday because of a traffic accident with downed wires.

The department said the roadway closed overnight at Street Road and Castle Drive due to the crash involving a pickup truck.

The stretch of Street Road —a little less than a half mile —remained closed before daybreak on Tuesday, NBC10 Philadelphia reported.

Township residents on the FYI Bensalem Facebook page stated that the road reopened Tuesday morning and that PECO had installed a new utility pole.
