Tamanend Scouts Attend Archdiocese of Philadelphia Scout Mass

Boy scouts and cub scouts from Lower Bucks County were awarded religious emblems at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.

Catholic Scouts from the Tamanend District of Washington Crossing Council attended the annual Archdiocese of Philadelphia Scout Mass on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.

The Most Reverend Bishop Fitzgerald presented religious awards to cub scouts and boy scouts who completed one of four different programs designed to help each young person in the journey to deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith and the life choice they may consider as they become young adults. Assisting Bishop Fitzgerald, were Eagle Scouts and Bucks County natives, Fr. David Friel and seminarian Alex Pancoast along with Fr. Harold Mc Kale of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Doylestown.

Cub Scouts earned the Light of Christ and Parvuli Dei emblems, while their older counterparts in Boy Scouts and Venture Crew earned the Ad Altare Dei and Pope Pius XII emblems. Additionally, a record nine scouts were recognized with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Scouting Award for their completion of all four programs available to Catholic youth. Each earned a medal and the right to wear the Religious Emblems Knot on their uniform.
