Tommy's Car Wash Coming To Bensalem Township
The largest car wash franchise in the country is opening its second Bucks County site. Another is located in Quakertown.
BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —After two years of planning, a new car wash is coming to the old Andy's Diner site on Lincoln Highway.
Bensalem Township Council Monday night unanimously approved preliminary and final land development for a Tommy's Express Car Wash at 2224 Lincoln Highway around Northgate Road.
This would be Tommy's second location in Bucks County with another in Quakertown.

Attorney Michael Meginniss said Tommy's Car Wash is the largest car wash franchise in the country. The company has locations 171 locations with 100 more planned.
"I didn't know much about them," the attorney said. "I had some concerns about a car wash in the township with operations on thoroughfares. But they are one of the highest-grossing franchises on any platform, not just car washes. Period."

Meginniss said what makes Tommy's different is how they treat their employees.
He said the car wash's business model is to provide an actual career path for employees: equity ownership stakes, revenue share, and benefits. Meginniss said some employees have earned more than $100,000 working at the car wash.
Bensalem residents would be employed, he said.
"This is a Class A operation. My clients are sincere about making a contribution to the Bensalem community," Meginniss said.
Hours of operation would be 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Peak hours would be noon on weekends and 4-6 p.m. on weeknights.
The car wash focuses on procuring memberships, which helps reduce time spent and turns out vehicles at a faster pace, company officials said. The car wash also emphasizes green energy and sustainability.
Representatives conducted a traffic study to ensure that cars won't clog the road getting into the car wash. They said they reviewed another Tommy's Car Wash, which handled at least 3,000 vehicles in a day and had none stacked on the road.
