Veterans Day Event Set At Middle School In Langhorne

At Maple Point Middle School, the yearly observance began in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks in 2001.

BENSALEM, PA — Eighth-graders at Maple Point Middle School in Langhorne have planned a reception and ceremony to honor military veterans in advance of Veterans Day.

The event is scheduled for Friday afternoon at the school, at 2250 Langhorne-Yardley Rd. in Langhorne. The reception begins at 12:15 p.m., with the ceremony starting at 1 p.m.

Reservations to attend are appreciated but not required, according to the school. More than 100 veterans already have registered to attend the event, which has become a Maple Point tradition begun in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks in 2001.

On the 65th anniversary of Veterans Day, a large American flag has been painted on the lawn outside of the school to honor veterans. A veteran-student group photo will be taken immediately following the ceremony.

There will be musical performances from students, speeches and reflections and a reading of each attending veteran's name, rank and military branch.
