Women's Animal Center Hosting Free Pet Adoption Event
The Bensalem animal shelter is teaming up with Doll 10 Beauty of Newtown for Saturday's event.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —Women's Animal Center is hosting a Dolls for Paws Adoption Event Saturday in hopes of finding homes for many of its shelter animals.
The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Women’s Animal Center, 3839 Richlieu Rd.
Doll 10 Beauty, an international-selling, cruelty-free cosmetics company based in Bucks County, is partnering with Women’s Animal Center, America’s First Animal Shelter, as the sponsor of a free pet adoption event.

The event will feature complimentary refreshments, basket raffles, and coloring activities for the little dolls and dudes. All adoption fees will be fully covered by Doll 10 Beauty in support of this lifesaving initiative.
“Never take time for granted. Animal shelters across the country are filled with pets that need our time, and the time for us to make a difference is now,” said Doris Dalton, founder of Doll 10 Beauty and former Mrs. America titleholder. “Our goal is to top the previous year’s success by uniting even more animals with their forever families in 2024."

This marks the sixth annual Dolls for Paws Adoption Event. Forty-one shelter pets found new homes at last year’s event.
In addition to waived adoption fees, Women’s Animal Center includes spaying or neutering, vaccinations, microchips, and discounted veterinary services with 10 percent off the first annual wellness exam. Adopters will receive Doll 10 adoption gift bags, and, of course, unconditional love with each shelter pet adopted.
“Women’s Animal Center assists thousands of animals in need throughout the region each and every year, but receives no federal, state or local funding to do so,” said Cathy Malkemes, Women's Animal Center's chief executive officer. “We rely upon the generosity of our community to support our work, so to have a corporate partner and friend to animals like Doll 10 Beauty is truly invaluable to us, and to our animals.”
The partnership between Doll 10 Beauty and Women’s Animal Center bears deeper meaning for the two organizations — in that both were founded by women. Doll 10’s cruelty-free commitment to compassion for all animals is likewise important.
Caroline Earle White, who founded Women’s Animal Center as America’s First Animal Shelter in 1869, also established the American Anti-Vivisection Society dedicated to ending the use of
animals in science, education, and research.
Interested adopters are encouraged to arrive early on the day of the event and streamline their adoption process by reviewing the shelter’s website in advance for tips on coming prepared.
Adoption applications and information on some current adoptable dogs, cats, and small domestic animals can be accessed on Women's Animal Center’s website: www.womensanimalcenter.org.
