Lehigh County Drug and Alcohol Partners with Lehigh Valley IronPigs for Community Recovery Night

Lehigh County Drug and Alcohol is teaming up with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs to bring recovery, community and baseball together for Recovery Night on Tuesday, Aug. 25, during the IronPigs' 6:45 p.m. game at Coca‑Cola Park. The event will unite individuals in recovery, their families, treatment providers and community members for an evening that celebrates hope, resilience, and the reality that recovery is possible.

The event's First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union Picnic Patio has sold out, with tickets sponsored by Lehigh County Drug and Alcohol and distributed through treatment providers, resource organizations and rehabilitative justice initiatives to individuals in recovery and their families. Baseball games are a place where family and friends come together. By offering an alcohol‑free gathering space, Recovery Night creates an environment where individuals in recovery can enjoy the game, connect with loved ones and experience the joy of community without pressure or stigma.

"People do recover," said Molly Stanton, Lehigh County Drug and Alcohol Assistant Administrator. "There's something special about gathering at the ballpark. It's fun, it's familiar and it brings families together. Recovery Night shows that you can enjoy America's favorite pastime in a welcoming, alcohol-free space that celebrates resilience while connecting people with resources that support long-term recovery."

"Having the partnership of a community-focused organization such as the IronPigs reminds us that a successful recovery journey is always possible, especially when we come together as a local network of family and friends to support one another along the way," said Andrew D'Angelo, executive director of the Center for Humanistic Change.

Community organizations participating in Recovery Night include:

• Counseling Solutions of the Lehigh Valley
• Change on Hamilton
• Mid Atlantic Rehabilitation Services (MARS)
• Treatment Trends, Inc.
• Valley Youth House

Together, these organizations will provide information about prevention, treatment, recovery support services and family resources. Representatives from MARS will also share information about the Families Obtaining Recovery Together (FORT) program, a free service funded entirely by Lehigh County Drug and Alcohol that supports area family members whose loved ones are struggling with substance use disorder.

A featured educational attraction will be a Mini Mock Teen Bedroom presented by The Center for Humanistic Change.The interactive tabletop exhibit challenges visitors to identify hidden compartments and diversion safes disguised as everyday household objects while educating parents and caregivers about current substance use trends and warning signs.

Fans will also have the opportunity to learn more about Rise Above Opioids, Lehigh County Drug and Alcohol's community education initiative connecting residents with prevention resources, treatment options and recovery support. Information about obtaining free naloxone (Narcan) will also be available.

In addition to Recovery Night, attendees can enjoy IronPigs' Tail Waggin' Night, presented by Abby Road Veterinary Hospital, appearances by the Phillie Phanatic and a Patriotic Hambone Poster giveaway for the first 3,000 adults ages 18 and older.
